Did you hear that? by Brad Alexander
Did you hear that?
“Yes, I heard it! I said. “I heard that and everything else you’ve said, and I’m tired of it. Please, leave me alone.”
“But did you hear that?”
“Yes! I heard it!” I shouted. “I’m tired of you. Stop asking me the same inane question. It’s driving me crazy. The answer to your question for the millionth time is - yes, I heard that. I heard it the first time you said it, and every other time since.”
“I understand. But did you hear that?”
“Get out of my head!” I yelled. “For the love of God, get out of my head! Yes, I heard it, but I don’t want to listen to you anymore. You’re just a cruel voice stuck in my head asking the same question day and night to punish me, and you’re driving me crazy. Please go away and stop asking me that. I don’t how much more of this I can take.”
“I couldn’t agree with you more. But did you hear that?”
